Artie Lange taped an interview with the New York Post in October 2009 that has just been released.
The audio tape and transcript of the NY Post interview features Artie Lange stating that he is completely clean and sober and has "so much to live for". The NY Post was the first news source to publicize the gory details of Artie Lange's Saturday morning suicide attempt.

During the Artie Lange interview which was taped in October, NY Post reporter Mandy Stadtmiller asked Artie Lange how he was coping with his highly publicized mental health and substance abuse issues:
"I had a heroin problem. And I’ve been clean since April. Off of everything. And I’ll tell you, I was taking Subutex to combat that, and I put more weight on me than I ever have, and I got off of that, I got off of heroin, and I lost about 50 pounds, and I tell you I’ve never felt better. I’m completely clean and sober now."
During the 45 minute interview, Artie Lange later told Stadtmiller that that he had "so much to live for".
