Artie Lange's future on the Howard Stern Show remains uncertain, but fans are continuing to reach out to the comedian more than a month after the details of his violent suicide attempt were revealed in the press.
The Artie Lange fan website SaveBabyGorilla.com is now emblazoned with a a banner ad that says "Show Your Support-E-mail a Letter to Artie" and a link that allows fans to send private messages of support. SaveBabyGorilla.com creator Matt Crouch was overwhelmed by the fan response to his requests to raise money to send Artie Lange flowers shortly after the info on Lange's suicide attempt was leaked to the New York Post, and eventually had to limit the number of donations his site could accept.
Fans are also continuing to create video tributes highlighting Artie Lange's greatest Howard Stern Show moments. Howard Stern himself spoke about how moved he was by one fan's Artie Lange tribute set to Johnny Cash's version of the Nine Inch Nails song 'Hurt'. Most recently, a tribute to Artie Lange featuring Nirvana's 'All Apologies' popped up on YouTube, drawing thousands of viewers in a just a few days. (Check out the video below)
The comedy news blog Punchline Magazine recently featured a story about a new website at WeloveyouArtie.ning.com set up to send messages of support to Artie Lange as well as reduce the number of suicides in America every year.
The Howard Stern Show has forged on in Artie Lange's absence, but fans are still keeping hope alive that Artie Lange will return to the air, if only to let fans know that he's survived the belly of the whale--even if he can't return as a full time co-host.
