'American Idol': Howard Stern says he'll judge for $100 million

Howard Stern has named his price to take over Simon Cowell's seat on the American Idol judging panel-$100 million.

 

The talk radio icon said he'd agree to a 9-digit salary for the American Idol gig while responding to this weekend's rumors that he was producers' top pick to take over Cowell's seat in Season 10. 

 

"Yeah, I would do that show for $100 million. It would be the best thing that happened to me. What a cush job—$100 million for four months. Who wouldn't take that?" said Howard Stern on Monday morning's Sirius XM satellite radio broadcast.

Stern immediately let Idol producers know, though, that his willingness to accept a King of All Media's ransom shouldn't be confused for a willingness to edit himself on his outrageous comments about his potential American Idol co-workers or past Idol winners.  Shortly after naming his price, Howard Stern said that he would have told American Idol Season 3 winner Fantasia Barrino: "Honey, you look like you walked out of a Haitian earthquake" and then added that Ellen Degeneres' face "looks like she smelled a rotten egg".

If Stern does ink a $100 million deal to slide into Simon Cowell's oily chair, he thinks that both Ellen Degeneres and "yucking" host Ryan Seacrest will head for the hills.

 

Howard Stern said he won't discuss any details of what's on the table (if anything) so far, but now the whole world knows that it's up to American Idol producers to decide whether they're interested in meeting his "demands".
