Howard Stern responded to rumors that he'll be taking over Simon Cowell's chair on 'American Idol' during Monday morning's Howard Stern Show broadcast.
Stern first laughed off the rumor, but his comments left the door open for American Idol executives to negotiate as the Howard Stern Show wore on.
"I'm not going to comment on any discussions I might or might not have had," saidStern said after teasing his audience with the story for over an hour. When Stern finally addressed this weekend's hottest 'American Idol' rumor, he said: "First of all, there isn't a better job in the world than judging that f---ing karaoke contest."
But that doesn't mean that Stern is looking at Idol as a realistic option. The Sirius XM media mogul said that he receives countless offers for a variety of different deals every week and didn't indicate that the Idol offer reached any further than stage one.
Howard Stern told his audience "everyone is begging me" to take the American Idol gig, and treated his listeners to a sneak peek of what an American Idol panel with the King of All Media might look like.
Stern said that he would have told Taylor Hicks to dye his hair, Carrie Underwood to lose weight and "straightened out" Adam Lambert.
And General Larry Platt of "Pants on the Ground" fame? "He'd be in Hollywood right now, tha guy" said Stern.

I can't see Stern taking a job where he'd be censored, at any price.

HIRE STERN AMERICAN IDOL & ADD A NAIL TO YOUR COFFIN! The show is DYING as it is ... this is just ANOTHER BAD JUDGEMENT to ADD to all the rest they have made in the past.
HOW DOES AN IDIOT LIKE STERN earn that much money? What IDIOT pays him for his GARBAGE MOUTH? NO WONDER RADIO IS "DYING" ... LOOK WHAT THEY HAVE TO OFFER the PUBLIC besides RAP!!!
I wish he would take this gig, I love Howard Stern!
