Jenulence: Mineral makeup that is genuinely good

Jenulence Mineral Makeup
There are thousands of mineral makeup brands on the internet, ranging from a light-medium-dark three color range to having nine different kinds of transparent finishing powders. As the Google search continued the number of new companies increase as well. The bold motto of Jenulence: If you can’t eat it, don’t use it on your skin! made it stand out from the rest of the newcomers.

Jenulence’s mineral makeup range does not contain any synthetic preservatives, fragrances, oils, waxes, talc, or toxic ingredients.   Targeted for those with sensitive skin, sun-damaged skin, or those who love natural products, Jenulence is synthetic free, cruelty free and made from 100% natural ingredients.

The samples-size products come in little plastic 5g plastic jars, with a sifter separated by a layer of plastic tape and sealed with shrink wrapped for extra hygiene. The lovely folks at Jenulence also put these little samples into an organza bag with a direction sheet enclosed. The three products tested were two shades of loose mineral foundation/concealer, a satin blush and a shimmering eye shadow.

Mineral foundation/concealer: light beige, natural beige

Pros: The foundation initially delivers a light coverage, but can easily be layered on for fuller coverage without caking. The mineral foundation provides a matted finish that efficiently controls sebum secretion throughout the day. The foundation formula does not oxidize on skin, unlike some that turns an orange cast after a few hours of wear.

Cons: It is very difficult to determine the shades of foundation, since the site lacks a comprehensive guide. The foundation is not thick enough to conceal severe dark under eye circles, however it is capable of concealing lack of sleep and discoloration on cheeks when applied with a concealer brush with a padding motion.   For those with severe dark circles, Jenulence offers the Under Eye Dark Circles Concealer for additional coverage.

Those new to this brand to try their starter sample set before purchasing a full-size product.

Conclusion: This foundation is suitable for those who are looking for a light mineral foundation formula that will even out their skin tone. However, there is a heavier formula available for those who seek a fuller coverage. The absence of waxes, oils, and talc makes this foundation suitable for those with sensitive normal to oily skin.

Peach satin blush

Pros: Just like the name of the blush, the color is peach. Not orange, not coral, but a true peach. The warm peachy pink leaves a healthy glow on the skin that reminisces of warm summer afternoons in the park, and finish provides a dewy glow. The blush itself is highly pigmented; it is easy to apply more than necessary. The no-fuzz naming process for Jenulence blushes makes it easy to identify the color, rather than guessing by the crafty titles.

Cons: The only minor concern about this blush is my preference to apply a heavy pigmented blush with a stippling brush. However the brush range on the site is very limited.

Conclusion: All in all this has makes a great go-to blushe, because the color is easy to match and can bring a warm glow with a little blending. This color is perfect for summertime and the tiny sample jar is perfect for traveling, just be sure to shut it tightly.

Silver salmon shimmer eyeshadow

Pros: The eyeshadows come in three different finishes, shimmer, sparkle, and matted. This offers more option for those who prefer one finish over another. While the shadow could be named something like Pixiedust, the shades use the simple color codes and stay true to its name. Like most mineral eyeshadows, this shadow initially provides a light wash of salmon, but after foiling (adding water or mixing medium to the shadow) the color becomes much more vibrant. The salmon provides an alternative color for those who like a neutral look but want to derive from the brown. It provides a nice glow without making eyes appear pink and puffy. The amount of shimmer is light and fine enough to make eyes sparkle. The formula is long lasting and more pigmented than most mineral eyeshadows.

Cons: The one complain is the small size of the range. The number of colors on the site is quite limited, and it would be lovely if Jenulence can expand their line further. In addition, a real swatch of the colors would be nice, since colors differ on different undertones than the color appeared online.

Conclusion: The salmon shimmer eyeshadow delivers that wash of color without the chunky use of glitter, and the price is affordable enough for those who want to try a few colors. The selection is quite pigmented so only little is needed for each use, and that’s easy on the wallet and on the eyes. The brand offers many basic colors and some bold ones like emerald green and sky blue, with a little something in between for everyone.

Jenulence is a great brand for those who are curious but frighten by mineral makeup. The prices are friendly and the folks are more than happy to assist you with your selection of products. All of the ranges include shades that are suitable for everyday use, and shades that are unique and funky. The quality of the mineral makeup is very fine and does not contain cosmetic skin irritants, making it perfect for those with sensitive skin. All of the minerals are available in full, economy, trial size jars and sample baggies.
