Skin care should be an important parts of everyone’s regimen. A lot of times, different factors can affect your skin such as products, sun exposure, and stress. As a result of the different factors affecting the skin, acne, breakouts, and/or blemishes may occur. Before seeing a dermatologist (which can be costly) it is important to try cheaper home remedies first. Washing the face twice a day, helps eliminate/diminish the amount of oil and dirt on the skin. If your skin is very sensitive, stay away from harsh cleansers with salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide. Good cleansers would be Cetaphil, Neutrogena, and Dove.

Always look for a cleanser with the sensitive skin tag on it. Neutrogena has a new Deep Clean Cleanser which has salicylic acid but because its not the main ingredient, it tends to not harm the skin. It’s also important to use a good sunscreen with UV and UVA in it. Good moisturizers include: Johnson and Johnson’s Purpose, Cetaphil, and Olay. It’s important to make sure that they are oil free.

To help eliminate/lighten blemishes, try using a potato once a day for 15 minutes. In order to use this method, take one potato and cut 2 thin slices (store the remainder in a zip lock bag in the refrigerator). Rub the 2 slices all over your face and then let the juices soak in for 15 minutes. Afterwards, rinse with water and pat dry face or continue with your skin regimen cleanser.
When bumps (pimples) appear, use a fast acting pimple spot treatment. At this point, it’s okay to use benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid on the one spot. Please make sure you’re not allergic to any ingredients before using. In order to diminish the size of pimples overnight, leave a thick coat of product on face while sleeping. Good products to use would be Neutrogena Acne Spot Treatment or Clearasil Spot Treatment.
Alternating between iron and zinc vitamins also helps improve the appearance of skin. Check with a doctor to make sure that iron levels in your blood aren’t too high to where they would hinder taking them.
