The Houston Astros and assistant general manager in charge of scouting Bobby Heck announced Thursday the signing of nine out of the 52 draft picks who were selected in the 2010 First-Year Player Draft.

Terms of contracts were not disclosed.

Among the draftees to sign include: Robert Doran (fourth round, Texas Tech), Jake Buchanan (eighth round, North Carolina State), Thomas Shirley (ninth round, Xavier University), Kyle Redinger (11th round, Cedar Crest (Pa.) High School), James Robinson (12th round, Georgia Tech), Christopher Wallace (16th round, University of Houston), Alexander Sogard (26th round, North Carolina State), Ryan Cole (34th round, St. John's University), and Bryce Lane (41st round, Gulf Coast Community College).

Doran played at Class 5A powerhouse Flower Mound (Texas) Marcus High School prior to heading to Seward County CC and Texas Tech.

Wallace, 22, is a product of Cy-Fair High School and played at Houston under the direction of Rayner Noble, who reportedly won't continue next season as head baseball coach.

The Astros have until Aug. 16 to sign the remaining 43 players, which includes first-rounders Delino DeShields (eighth overall) and Mike Foltynewicz (19th overall), as well as supplemental first-round pick Mike Kvasnicka (33rd overall).
