New Yorkers love their dogs... and cats. With the numerous dog parks and pet events held in and around the city, this place is practically a haven for our furry friends. So, it’s not surprising that there are many area hotels cater to their guest’s animals. From complimentary kitty litter to gourmet room service (yes, that would be room service for your dog or cat), New York City hotels show that they love your pets almost as much as you do.
Before booking any travel or leaving town with your pet, Leila Peverett of AndASmallDog.com, a great source for pet travel advice, says that the following tips should be taken into consideration:
- Always bring proof of vaccinations along with a health certificate if you are traveling out-of-state
- When looking for a pet-friendly hotel, call ahead to inquire about any pet fees, if there are any breed or weight restrictions, or if your pet can be left unattended.
- Don't forget to pack your pet's favorite toy(s) and blanket or pillow so that they feel "at home"
