The long awaited 'Paranormal Activity' may see the light of day

Chances are you didn’t see Paranormal Activity, the indie haunted house movie by newcomer Oren Peli. Completed in 2007, Paranormal Activity screened at Screamfest in October of 2007 and at Slamdance in January of 2008. Soon, word began to spread about the little movie that was scaring the pants off its audiences. It wasn't long until Paramount swooped in, bought the film, and quickly removed it from any additional theaters. For almost two years Paranormal Activity has been hidden in the deepest, darkest corner of the Paramount basement to never to be seen again. But, why? Why would a major movie studio buy an acclaimed independent film and attempt to hide it away? To remake it, of course!

It was to be a great loss for horror fans around the world. That is, until yesterday. Word has begun to spread that Paranormal Activity will soon see the light of day again. According to Shock Till You Drop, Paranormal Activity will receive a limited release as early as September 25 of this year. However, there are some unfortunate repercussions. Apparently, some changes will be made from the festival cut, including an entirely new ending.  On the plus side, it looks like a remake is on hold for now.

Paranormal Activity, written and directed by Oren Peli, is about a couple who believes their house is haunted by a malevolent ghost and set up video surveillance cameras to capture the goings on while they sleep.
