Universal Studios remake of The Wolfman won't be pulling any punches next Valentine's Day, as it's gotten an R-rating from the Motion Picture Association of America.
The film, starring Benicio del Toro as Lawrence Talbot, is another in a long line of Hollywood remakes and reboots that are hitting the big screen. Like the original, this one will be set in Victorian England and del Toro will play a man returning from America who gets bit by a wolf and goes on a bloody rampage at the appearance of a full moon.
While the return to these franchises is a growing trend in horror, studios are more apt to shoot for a lower rating in order to make the films more accessible to teenagers. With remakes like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th, My Bloody Valentine and potentially A Nightmare on Elm Street getting R-ratings and having great success though, Universal saw no reason to pull back on the gore in this latest installment in a classic series, so expect lots of blood in this one, something fans have been chomping at the bit for.
The film also stars Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt and Hugo Weaving. Look for it everywhere on February 12, 2010, because nothing says Valentine's Day like a two-hundred and fifty-pound Wolfman ripping away at your jugular.

This looks like a good one! I like werewolves, they make good monsters.
Hopefully this is better than the typical remake. I'll admit, I'm more enthused about this one, due to the combined awesome factor of Benecio del Toro and werewolves.
Thank god they didn't try to water it down to PG-13. Horror movies are meant to be R.
