A few days ago, the top 10 best horror movies of the decade was revealed. Now it’s time for the 10 worst horror films of the past ten years. These are the worst of the worst. Films that made you cringe, wish you had the last 90-minutes of your life back, or made you want to claw your eyes out.
With plots that went nowhere, characters that made no sense, acting that was laughable, and endings that were just downright awful, these are the ten worst films of the past decade.
10. Grace (2009) - Madeline Matheson is eight months pregnant and determined to deliver her unborn child, Grace. When an accident leaves Grace dead inside her, Madeline insists on carrying the baby's corpse to term. Weeks later, when Madeline delivers, the baby miraculously returns to life...with an appetite. Horrible!
9. Jason X (2001) - Friday the 13th in space? C’mon, really? After a bunch of nanobots put the killer back together again like Humpty Dumpty, Jason begins his rampage on a spaceship in the 25th century. Certainly not the worst in the series, but definitely the worst of the past decade.
8. The Messengers (2007) - Before Kristen Stewart took the role as Bella, she starred in this god-awful flick about a family trying to put their lives back together, when something supernatural begins to happen in their son. Stewart is a bad enough actress, but putting her in a film like this is just torture. For us.
7. Turistas (2006) - Americans lost in a remote island location only to be terrorized...blah, blah, blah. This time it’s Brazil, this time no one cares, and this time you actually can’t wait for the next guy to bite the dust so the film can end.
6. The Haunting of Molly Hartley (2008) - As a friend of mine once said, “This is the worst episode of 90210 ever!” I agree. A 17-year old girl is stabbed by her mom, moved to a new school by her father, and friended by Miss Popular. Haunted by nightmares, Molly is destined to be a servant of the devil when she turns 18. Man, just kill her already and get this crap over with.
5. One Missed Call (2008) - A remake of a Japanese flick where people start getting phone messages from their future selves that include the date, time and details of their death. They should have switched cell phone companies.
4. Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 (2000) - Stereotypical kids go in to the woods after becoming fascinated by what happened to the missing filmmakers from the first flick. They get stoned, drunk, and killed. The best part of this film? That it ended.
3. The Gingerdead Man (2005) - A girl sends a killer to the electric chair, but his ashes are scattered in a vat of...cookie dough? Let the craziness begin as he comes back as a demented gingerbread cookie to get his revenge. Speaking of crazy, Gary Busey is the cookie. What more do you need for a bad flick? How about a sequel. Don't ask.
2. Midnight Movie (2008) - A screening of a 1970’s horror film goes horribly wrong when the killer from the film comes out of the movie to continue his rampage on those in the theater. Bad acting, bad effects, bad, bad, bad. Stay away!
1. The Happening (2008) - M. Night Shyamalan directed the worst horror film of the decade, hands down, and gave us a glimpse of what would have happened if Dirk Diggler became a science teacher instead of a porn star. With acting that made you feel like it was a direct-to-DVD release instead of a Hollywood budgeted film, this one was barely watchable, and definitely deserve its props at the top of the list.
There you have it. The top 10 worst films of the decade. Agree? Disagree? Have your say below and pick your worst horror films of the past ten years.

The Gingerbread Man... Gary Busey? No. No, thank you.
Yeah, the Happening deserved the top spot. The acting so amazingly bad for the big budget Hollywood film. If you saw the trailer, you saw the best parts of the film.
Out running the wind? Seriously?
How could The Ruins not make number one? Even The Happening was better than that piece of trash.
Gangs of the Dead for the #1 spot.
TOTALLY agree on The Happening. Excusing The Sixth Sense, I would award M. Night Shyamalan the "worst director of the decade" trophy. I think it's amazing how consistently he puts out awful movies.
Blair Witch 2 was pretty god-awful, too. I remember thinking that a sequel was a bad idea, but no one could have predicted that pile of crap.
I haven't seen "One Missed Call," but I think it's pretty evident that anything incorporating technology as the bad guy is gonna be awful.
Grace should NOT be on this list! It wasn't a great film but the worst of the past 10 years?? Not even! Turistas is another one I don't get. It's not great, but that film has quite the following.
Gingerdead man was a waste of film....lol... i had to leave the room when my husband watched it. It should have made top lol
The original Chakushin Ari (One Missed Call) was an extremely disappointing movie as well. My friend and I both left the theater thinking: are they setting us up for a sequel? It ended on the strangest note (no pun intended). Sure enough, 2 appeared the next year or the year after. I was so disgusted by such an obvious ploy, I didn't bother to see the second, and have been warning folks away from the first ever since.
As for The Happening... loved it.
I prefer to call it 'The Crappening'
the happening is a great bad movie, i watch it all the time.
Five across the eyes is really bad. 80 mins of girls screaming in a car whilst being chased by what looks like a lawyer.
hallettsville is literally four stranded youths running around in a circle some demon thing pops in and out.
Jeepers Creepers 2. I only looked up the top worst horror flicks of all time because my friends and I made a drinking game out of this horrendous film. Honestly though, best drinking game ever.
Next week we'll try The Gingerbread Man hahaha
