A few months ago it was announced that Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer, the duo behind My Bloody Valentine 3D, would be teaming up again to work on Halloween 3D, the third film since the revival of the franchise that began with Rob Zombie's Halloween in 2007.
According to Bloodydisgusting.com though, The Weinstein Company is now looking for new pitches in order to take the film in a different direction. No one has any idea if Lussier and Farmer are still involved in the project, but it's not likely.
My Bloody Valentine revived a new trend in horror that has not been seen since the 1980's - 3D. With its success came The Final Destination and now Michael Myers is set to pop out of the big screen some time in 2010.
The Halloween franchise, one of the most successful of all time, began to suffer from sequel burnout, until Rob Zombie breathed new life in to it with his remake of the classic 1978 original. While he did do a sequel, Zombie will not be returning to direct the latest installment in the series.
Lussier and Farmer are currently working on Drive Angry, a new thriller starring Nicholas Cage.
While The Weinstein Company may not be able to make up its mind on which direction they want to take the series, horror fans can rest assured that there will be another film in the Halloween franchise at some point, and Michael Myers will be back to once again do what he does best.

Is this a scheme to make the Halloween reboot worse than the originals?
I don't know, Chris, I seem to fall in with the minority who actually liked the Rob Zombie version. Without him though, I don't have high hopes for whatever is coming next.
I love Rob's first two films, but Halloween was just a mess. If you're going to explain away all the mystique of why Michael (as a kid) snapped, something less cliche than an abusive white trash family is called for. Despite that, some of the first half was good, but the second half was like "let's jam the whole original film into 45 minutes!"
I haven't seen the second one, yet, but I dig Rob's music, so I'll check it out at some point. Who knows... maybe it's a masterpiece.
