You may ask yourself what would possess a group of hundreds of people to get together, dress as zombies, and walk a predetermined route through a city while staying in zombie character the whole time? Well… if you have to ask yourself this question, you may never understand. Zombie walks have been gaining popularity for the last few years. In fact, there have been walks with as many as 1,500 members walking through the streets dressed as zombies.
Adding to last year’s first annual zombie walk in Salt Lake City, 2009’s walk promises to add to the legacy. It has been scheduled for Sunday August 9, 2009 at 7:00 pm. Here is a snippet from SLC Zombie Walk’s Flickr page:
Dress like a zombie and meet at Mt Olivet Cemetery, wait for 30 min for everyone to show up. Walk west down 500 E, stay on 500E through residences to Trolley Square....
Please don't disrupt anyone, anything, and any personal property that is not yours. Stay in character as a zombie the whole time.... attacks your friends or people you know. Do not bother anyone that is not part of the walk. Follow the map and do not go of the path.
This article is meant to just raise awareness for the event. There will be a follow up upcoming with more history of zombie walks overall plus a recap of this year’s walk.
