Eddie Deezen's Terrorble Top 10 ( plus 1 extra) favorite monster movies

Image courtesy of Eddie DeezenEddie Deezen is one the zaniest comedic character actors, and although you surely know his voice (and probably his face), you may not know him by name. Perhaps best known as Eugene in "Grease, or "Grease 2" or from his lovable roles in "1941" or the vastly under-rated "I Wanna Hold Your Hand," Deezen has made acting as a nerd an art form. Any Beatles fan who saw Eddie create the character of the ultimate fab four fan alongside Wendy Jo Sperber will forever remember and love him and that film.

His horror or genre films (some of which are obviously spoofs), include "Teenage Exorcist," "Critters 2: The Main Course" and "Polish Vampire in Burbank." But Eddie may best be known (albeit unseen) for his voice-over work on such projects as Disney's "Kim Possible" (as Ned), the Mouth on "Darkwing Duck" or Gibby on "What's New, Scooby-Doo?". Look (or listen) for Eddie in November on the Spongebob Anniversary special.

We asked Eddie to compile his Top Ten Terrorble Favorite Monster Movies for Horror Happenings, but he gave us eleven.

1) "Scared Stiff" (1953) with Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis. My all-time favorite "horror film" just because I worship Martin & Lewis.

2) "Young Frankenstein" (1974) One of the funniest movies ever made - a Mel Brooks masterpiece.

3) "Frankenstein" (1931) The film that made Boris Karloff a major star.

4) "A Hard Day's Night"- Not the Beatles film, but the Beatles cartoon where the Fab Four visit a haunted house. It is also my all-time favorite Beatles song.

5) 'King Kong" (1933) Adolf Hitler's favorite film & a great monster classic.

6)  "Godzilla" (1954) A great fifties monster flick.

7)  "Beverly Hills Vamp" - I had such a ball filming this one (Circa 1988). I love Fred Olin Ray as a comedy/horror director.

8) "Teenage Exorcist"- (Circa 1989) - Another fun comedy/horror film I did with Fred Olin Ray.

9) "Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein" (1948)- Maybe Bud & Lou's most popular film besides "Buck Privates."

10) "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" (1939)- The finest version of the classic story. This Charles Laughton version is one of my all-time favorite films. Just awesome.

11) "Bela Lugosi Meets a Brooklyn Gorilla" (1952)- Duke Mitchell and Sammy Petrillo, the bargain basement version Martin & Lewis, are hilarious. This might be my all-time number one horror genre movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Definately. Move it to #1.

Thank you Eddie Deezen. We love you.

Seeing Mr. Deezen's list made me think of one more of my favorite scary movies that is a classic...The Ghost and Mr. Chicken with Don Knotts!
