Medal for hero from base shooting
Should Sgt. Kimberly Munley that saved so many lives on a military base while engaging in combat receive the “Congressional Medal of Honor?”
Her actions were above and beyond the call of duty. While she is not currently serving in the military, do not the circumstances of this event warrant an exception to the normal rules?
First this heroic act occurred on a U.S. military base.
Second it was surely as much a combat assault as any other anywhere.
Third she put her life and her welfare aside to save the lives of American soldiers.
Please vote in the attached poll, ask your friends to vote the outcome will be forwarded to the President of the United States.

Certain her and any other officer in volved in shooting this supect should unquestionably receive the law enforcement "Medal of Honor"
Just to let you know
I have recently had a stroke that has resulted in some seizers. At times I make grammar errors as I don't always have someone available to proof read these articles, before I have to submit them. I try to do my best to keep the information fresh. The old brain doesn't connect the dots as it once might have.

Justin, while I can agree with part of what you said there is one part of your statement that is without merit. You indicated that she was just doing her job therefore should not not receive the medal. If that were true no soldier would ever qualify as they are just doing their job.
This is ridiculous and insulting to the MOH recipients. Certainly what this lady did was brave and heroic, and she should be recognized for that, however, from what I've read, her actions wouldn't merit a MOH even if she were eligible for one. Perhaps someone should submit her name for recognition as an Above and Beyond recipient. This award is presented by the Congressional Medal of Honor Society. Obviously, if she were awarded this recognition, it is high praise from some of the bravest men in American history.
Doyle,
I do think she should get the medal of honor for this. It is ironic that the military, (who should have discharged Hassan when red flags came up,but didn't for fear of being perceived as 'politically incorrect' or discriminatory) were upstaged by a female police officer who had the guts to do something about it. Alas, she probably won't because it would be too politically incorrect to do so. By the way, perhaps folks will think I'm 'politically incorrect' as well, but I'm glad Hassan survived because he was taken down by a woman. After all his prior statements about "suicide bombers and extreme Islamic terrorism being justified", and other delusional garbage, he must feel pretty humiliated right now in the knowledge that while the military wasn't the one to stop him, along came a woman who did. Mind you, it doesn't matter to most of us if she's a woman. But to Hassan, with the Islamic mindset of women as second class citizens, it probably feels oh so embarrassing
Jim your comment is appreciated you took the time and energy to speak from the heart. Political correctness goes to fair. Your comments were not racist or inflammatory.
The "Medal of Honor" may turn out to be the wrong medal but she certainly deserves a law enforcement "Medal of Honor" But at least this poll will show the President that people feel strongly about rewarding this brave woman. I really liked Mark idea about the ABOVE and BEYOND award.
Doyle,
While her acts were heroic, there was no declared war on Fort Hood. Being a 12 year veteran of the Marine Corps, and having personally witnessed the awarding of the Medal of Honor to two deserving individuals I do not think bestowing this great honor on her is appropriate. She deserves our gratitude, the thanks of a greatful nation and the respect of her fellow Americans. To award her the Medal of Honor would put a foul taste in the mouths of those who have gone before, and earned the mdeal. If we looked at every instance of a police officer, shooting a suspect to end a heinous crime we would be forced to pass out the Medal of Honor far too many times, and it would cheapen it's legitimate meaning. I have no doubt that she will be recognized by the military, the American People and the President. There are plenty of awards that can be bestowed upon her, however I imagine she feels the greatest reward has already been given.....the lives of everyone who survived.
And since your other comment was about grammatical and spelling errors, I would also like to point out that although the Official Website for the Medal of Honor states "Congressional Medal of Honor"....it is simply called and should always be referred to as the "Medal of Honor". There is nothing "Congressional" about it. To give it that aspect of being connected 'politically' that way is just plain wrong. I would invite you and your readers to visit the website for the Medal of Honor to get an idea of how rare it's awarding is, and in what circumstances it's usually awarded. In the current conflicts, there are no surviving Medal of Honor recipients. cmohs.org/ Click on "Recipients" and then "Recent Recipients". A few minutes of reading, and your life will be forever changed. I firmly believe that Medal of Honor citations should be required reading in High Schools in the United States. It gives a whole new meaning to "Veterans Day".
Carl I really appreciate your thoughtful input, this poll was started to get peoples talking and to get their feelings for this heroic act. As a 100% disabled Vietnam Veteran I'm well aware that the she will not be getting The "Congressional Medal of Honor"
I seen a lot of law enforcement "Medal of Valor" given out for less.
It may hope the poll will give our nations leaders the push to do more than just thank you!
But I thank you for your well written non-attacking comment.
Carl, I would like to reiterate what others have said, As a Disabled Persian Gulf War Veteran, she cannot recieve the Congressional Metal of Honor (CMH) unless she was Active Duty at the time of the incident in which she was elected for the CMH. She could however be put in for the Congressional Metal of Freedom and any law enforcement metals. Sorry rules are rules. We are all pulling for Sgt. Kim Munley.
