Before the fireworks celebrations this Independence Day, most American homeschoolers may feel the desire to instill into our children the meaning behind 4th of July celebrations. A great place to begin is to study the teachings of David Barton from Wallbuilders. In fact, if you don’t already have his website bookmarked on your computer, now is a great time to do that.  It is a great resource to use throughout the school year in teaching history and how it relates to current events.

On Independence Day, David Barton and Wallbuilders will be part of CBN’s 700 Club and Pat Robertson’s Foundations of Freedom.  A special Independence Day is planned.  David Barton from Wallbuilders organization will explain the importance of upholding Christian principles on preserving American’s liberty. The CBN website reads:

For more than 225 years, America has been blessed as the longest on-going Constitutional Republic in the history of the world. David Barton of Wall Builders explains that preserving American liberty depends first upon our understanding of the foundations on which this great country was built, and then it depends on preserving the principles on which it was founded.

David Barton is a historian who exposes our nation’s true history. David Barton is the founder of Wallbuilders. For those who are not familiar with Wallbuilders, his website describes the organization as follows:

David Barton is the Founder and President of WallBuilders, a national pro-family organization that presents America's forgotten history and heroes, with an emphasis on our moral, religious and constitutional heritage.

WallBuilders is a name taken from the Old Testament writings of Nehemiah, who led a grassroots movement to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem and restore its strength and honor. In the same way, WallBuilders seeks to energize the grassroots today to become involved in strengthening their communities, states, and nation.

David is the author of numerous best-selling books, with the subjects being drawn largely from his massive library of tens of thousands of original writings from the Founding Era. He also addresses well over 400 groups each year.

His exhaustive research has rendered him an expert in historical and constitutional issues and he serves as a consultant to state and federal legislators, has participated in several cases at the Supreme Court, was involved in the development of the History/Social Studies standards for states such as Texas and California, and has helped produce history textbooks now used in schools across the nation.

Once you know the deep roots and meaning to 4th of July and this Nation’s history, then you can truly join in with understanding and feel free to enjoy 4th of July celebrations in the area.
