There's an App for that! Even the most enthusiastic teachers and homeschoolers can run out of steam about this time of year. The weather in the St. Louis area is nicer, and the students are itching to get outside. The last thing they want to do is sit down in front of a textbook and read about science or do endless math problems. Don't despair, there's an App for that!
Do you know the difference between a troop of animals and a troupe? Or, that a group of rhinos is called a Crash? And, what is behind the term, "get your muster up?" Could it have something to do with a group of peacocks? If you have the iLiveMath Animals of Africa, you would already be in the know on facts like these.
Moms with Apps is offering App Fridays where they discover and make others aware of downloadable Apps for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. Today's App is iLiveMath Animals of Africa.
This App was designed by iHomeEducator after the family took a trip to a safari park. It combines African animal pictures and facts with learning math. iHomeEducator has developed other educational Apps that are available for a very small charge through iTunes as well. It's possible your child could learn math facts without even realizing it's actually math. The App is available at the iTunes store for a free download, and is described as:
Over 26 types of Animals from Africa with over 1 million possible randomly generated questions. Collaborate with other students and educators using twitter and blogs. Word problems test the students understanding of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and percents. Three levels of difficulty which will test young readers from K to 6th graders.
If you do not have an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad and are considering purchasing one, there are numerous AT&T stores throughout the St. Louis area who would be happy to help with any questions. Here is a store locator to find one closest to you.
