Children from area public, private and home schools attended the Young Writers and Artists Conference at Bethany Lutheran College yesterday.
The conference hosted students in grades three through six yesterday. The conference continues today and will host students in grades three through nine.
Students learned about many different types of writing and art. Some classes included dance, choreography, book making, nature writing, science fiction, humor, song writing, creating graphic novels and learning Aztec dancing and drumming.
The keynote presentation was performed by the Kalpulli Yaocenoxtli, Aztec Dancers, a multi-family group of dancers who also shared information about their Aztec culture and history.
The YWAC is held every year and is organized by the South Central Service Cooperative in partnership with Bethany Lutheran College, the Betsy-Tacy Society and Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council.

It looks like a lot of fun! Are they always held at Bethany?
We go every year and it's always so much fun!
Alden, I believe this conference is always held at Bethany. There is also a science conference held at Gustavus Adolfus in St. Peter and two conferences (one for writing, one for art) in Marshall.
