Joshua and John Duggar, of the homeschooling Duggar family from the TV series 19 Kids and Counting, are being hailed as heroes. On Thursday, January 28th, there was a car accident in front of Joshua's car dealership. The dealership is located on Thompson Street in Springdale. Joshua and John freed a six year old girl from the car. She was airlifted to a hospital in Little Rock.
Maddye, the six year old girl, was trapped in the car when the airbags deployed. She was unconscious and unable to breathe. Joshua and John freed Maddye from the vehicle and brought her into the office at the dealership. CPR was performed and 911 was called.
According to the report by TV 40/29, Maddye was not wearing a seat belt and was eating when the accident occurred. A piece of the food was lodged into her airway and obstructed breathing. Quick action by Joshua and John Duggar saved Maddye's life. She was airlifted to Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock where she is in critical condition. This is the same hospital where little Josie Brooklyn Duggar, the Duggar's 19th child, was born. Maddye is in critical condition, they expect a full recovery soon. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar visited Maddye at the hospital.
Joshua and John are being hailed as heroes. Their quick thinking and decisive action saved Maddye's life. Joshua Duggar told TV 40/29 "The Springdale paramedics did a phenomenal job. I was just a piece of the puzzle, a very small piece at that, that really helped to save Maddye’s life. And I’m just really grateful to be a part of it…" John Duggar is a volunteer fireman. Both men were homeschooled. See the video below for a full report from TV 40/29.
