Unlike regular school teachers, homeschoolers don't always have the luxury of getting discounts at stores that offer teacher or school discounts. There are some places that make you prove you use an accredited program to be able to qualify for the discounts. Half Price Books on the other hand doesn't.
They do ask that you are part of a homeschool organization, but that's it really and by just filling out their Educator's card, you can get 10% off your purchases all year and 20% on Teacher and Librarian Weekend which is going on right now.
All I can say is never underestimate this book store. We go there all the time and never manage to walk out with our hands empty. Today, we even got a bonus, we walked out with a discount!

In Corpus Christi, Half Price Books is located at 5425 South Padre Island Dr. at Moore Plaza. Teacher and Librarian Appreciation Weekend goes on from October 9 - 12, 2009.
