Diabetes technology is critical for patients, especially for children. The technology changes daily. It's a question of learning how to augment a diabetes management regimen without going overboard. Insulin pumps for diabetics. Glucose sensors for patients. Artificial pancreas technology.
It's a Herculean task to keep up, so, to aid parents and the children with diabetes, there's Focus on Technology 2009 from April 24-26 at the Renaissance Chicago North Shore Hotel.
This is an essential event for newly diagnosed type 1 patients or veteran experts. Focus on Technology will feature noted pediatric experts like Bruce Buckingham and Children with Diabetes founder/president Jeff Hitchcock.
Families can experience hands-on activites, speakers and multimedia presentations. This is a must-do for the health and well-being of any family managing type 1 diabetes. Registration is required at the CWD website.
Family Registration, $300, includes 2 adults and up to 3 accompanying children under age 18. Additional adults are $50 per person. Additional children are $25 per person (2 and under free). Includes:
- Friday evening reception
- Buffet breakfast Saturday and Sunday
- Mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack breaks Saturday and Sunday
- Lunch Saturday and Sunday and dinner Saturday
- All sessions for adults, teens, and school-age children
CWD reports that the hotel rooms at the Renaissance are full, but interested families may contact Mike Schurig at (407) 859-9630 (9am - 5pm Eastern. His email is mike@childrenwithdiabetes.com.
