Finding Healthy Housing Products at the PCBC show next week

 

I'm looking forward to finding new healthy housing products at PCBC next week.

For the last fifty years the Pacific Coast Builders Conference (PCBC) has been held in San Francisco. If you are a builder, remodeler, designer, architect or have any interest whatsoever in the designing, building, remodeling, updating of any type of property or the surrounding landscaping, this is the place to go. It's like a home and living show for professionals.

Of course you don't have to be a professional to go and the exhibit halls are open to everyone. Even if you are planning on using a contractor, designer or architect for you next project it's still a good idea to go and see what your options are for yourself and get some inspiration.

You'll see everything from step ladders to steel buildings, lighting, doors, floors, decking, roofs, insulation, plumbing... absolutely everything that goes into a property.

If you are like me you you'll be looking for the healthiest products to use in your home, and by healthiest I don't necessarily mean "Green". PCBC has a Green Forum and a special interest in Green Building but it is a common misconception that "Green" is the same as healthy.

A lot of the green standard revolves around how a product was created by reusing an existing product or how much energy can be saved by using the product not how the product will effect your health. I'm not saying you shouldn't be building "Green", however with multiple manufactures of each type of product, finding the healthiest is my top consideration when picking products.

I'll be there as the project manager for SaferBuilding looking for new products for us to test, I'll report back what I find next week.
