The DTE Energy Pops series continues with Classic Broadway coming this month to the DSO. Performances are scheduled for Thursday, November 13 at 10:45 am, Thursday, November 13 at 8 pm, Friday, November 14 at 8:30 pm, and Saturday, November 15 at 8:30 pm.

 
Erich Kunzel will be conducting in Orchestra Hall. Kunzel received the National Medal of Arts in 2006. He celebrated 50 years of conducting and his 30th season with the Cincinnati Pops during the 2007-2008 season, and was inducted into the American Classical Music Hall of Fame this past September. Also performing are guest vocalists Kathleen Brett (soprano), Michael Lowe (baritone), and Steven Morgan (tenor), as well as the Wayne State University Symphonic Chorus under the direction of Norah Duncan IV. Norah Duncan IV is associate chair and associate professor of Music at Wayne State University where he directs the WSU Concert Chorale and the WSU Symphonic Chorus and coordinates many of the choral concerts presented by the Department of Music.

  • George Gershwin, selections from Funny Face, Let 'Em Eat Cake, and The Jazz Singer
  • Leonard Bernstein, selections from West Side Story
  • John Kander, selections from Chicago
  • Mitch Leigh, selections from The Man of La Mancha
  • Cole Porter, selections from Paris and The Gay Divorcee
  • Frederick Loewe, selections from Brigadoon and My Fair Lady
  • Richard Rodgers, selections from Oklahoma, South Pacific, and The Sound of Music

Parking is available for $7 in the Orchestra Place Parking Structure located on Parsons just south of The Max.  Parking is also available in the Orchestra Place parking deck for patrons with handicap permits.
