Jari Love set for new DVD release in early October

Love's new release is due October 6

Jari Love's ultra-tough weight workouts are all but required in advanced exercisers' DVD collections, and the seventh installment is ready for release.  Get Extremely Ripped 1000 hopes to follow in the footsteps of its slightly older sibling, Get Extremely Ripped, which was the #1 selling fitness DVD on amazon.com for approximately eight weeks.

Get Extremely Ripped 1000 will look like a combination of Get Extremely Ripped and an earlier Love workout, Get Ripped 1000 (2007.)  It is an interval workout, but there is one big change from the original 1000 format.  "As you know, your body plateaus," says creator Jari Love. "So in Extremely Ripped 1000, we're doing the cardio intervals for three minutes versus one."

To anyone who has completed Get Ripped 1000 and remembers the one minute blasts: you are absolutely within your rights to be quivering with fear at the thought of three minute cardio intervals with Jari.

Love has been happy with the response from Extremely Ripped, which was released earlier this year.  The workout looked and felt very different from Love's almost universally lauded first five releases, and some long-time fans chafed at the industrial-looking set, flashier outfits, and a more talkative Jari.  However, Love is encouraged by the majority of the feedback and thinks Extremely Ripped 1000 will give her fans the challenge they demand from her.  "I had a lot more fun with Extremely Ripped, but Extremely Ripped 1000 - it's tough!  We're not joking around as much as in Extremely Ripped because you're just sweating profusely and the heart rate's elevated and you're burning a lot of calories."

The set for Extremely Ripped 1000 will again be the industrial-themed backdrop used in Extremely Ripped.  "I know it's a little bit darker, but we wanted to create that gym-like atmosphere and really focus on seriousness and more intensity," says Love.

Extremely Ripped is a nonstop sequence of compound weight work, combining upper and lower body exercises to keep the heart rate elevated into the fat burning zone. Used properly, the intensity is such that lifting lighter weights than the exerciser would normally use still packs quite a punch. "In Extremely Ripped 1000, you can go a little heavier because it (alternates between) cardio and weights, so we're not doing as many reps as we did in Extremely Ripped," Love says. "I found that I couldn't go with heavy weights (in Extremely Ripped) because you're doing nonstop compound moves."

Like Extremely Ripped, Extremely Ripped 1000 will give the user the option of breaking the hour-long workout into two separate thirty minute segments or doing the entire sixty minute session.  Love used this format first in Extremely Ripped, and the shorter options are welcome on days when time is an issue.

If the physiques of the people in the workout are true indicators of how well the program works, then Jari Love's routines should sell themselves at first sight.  Love has a loyal, increasingly buff backup team, many of whom now teach for her in her Calgary, Alberta, Canada classes through Fitness Plus. Many of her background exercisers have been working out with her since well before the release of her first DVD, Get Ripped, in 2005.  Love says that, incredibly, she and her crew don't really do anything special to get into video shape.

"That's the amazing thing about the Get Ripped Program.  For example Lori's (a background exerciser turned instructor featured in every Love workout,) transformation from Get Ripped or Slim and Lean to now is astounding. We teach about four classes a week, and people don't realize that you can burn a lot of calories as opposed to just doing a gym workout, and that's why I really, really believe in the effectiveness."

Never one to let people think that simply trying her workouts will be a magic fix-all, Love adds:  "I do believe 80% of (fitness) is diet.  I used to be overweight, and I can tell you that if I'm not eating healthy, I will put on the pounds instantly.  So I do recommend that people watch what they eat for sure."

Although Extremely Ripped 1000 is still waiting in the wings, Love already has more projects in the works.  "We had a lot of demand from people wanting me to do a cardio workout...so they're going to get it!  I thought - get out of the box, Jari, and try something new," she says.

Since her workouts have always focused predominantly on strength training, Love is working with a dancer on the choreography for the new DVD.  "We're doing hi/lo, then we do a dance segment, and then I do a weight workout similar to Slim & Lean. I've included 'Ripped Tips" on how to break out of an exercise plateau at the very end."

Regardless of the format, Love's first venture into cardio is certain to be as tough and as effective as all of her previous releases. The new workout should be ready for release after Christmas.

Get Extremely Ripped 1000 hits the shelves on October 6th.  It is available for pre-order at amazon.com or through www.jarilove.com.

Love her videos! Something about her laid-back demeanor makes them easy to do, despite the fact that they're a killer workout.
