Kansas Breweries Win at GABF

The results are in for the 2009 Great American Beer Fest competitions.  Among the gold-medaled breweries from all across America were two from Kansas: Gellas Diner & Lb. Brewing Co. and Blind Tiger Brewery and Restaurant.

Blind Tiger Brewery and Restaurant of Topeka, Kansas, won the gold medal in the American-Style Wheat Beer category with their County Seat Wheat.

The Liberty Stout from Gellas Diner & Lb. Brewing Co. of Hays, Kansas, won the gold medal in the American-Style Stout category.

If you get the chance, stop in both of these great breweries and congratulate them on their wins while enjoying a tasty (award-winning!) pint with dinner.

Congratulations to all other winners, particularly the Pro-Am Competition winners.  This competition gives homebrewers a chance to win at GABF.  Award-winning American Homebrewers Association recipes are professionally brewed for this competition. Out of 72 entries, Ben Miller's IPA, brewed by Chama River Brewing Co., recieved the gold.  AHA members Jim Yeager and Brian Patterson won the silver and bronze, respectively.

Looking forward to hitting Gella's en route from Denver to Wichita. Also looking forward to revisiting Lawrence/Free State. And kicking myself I didn't get to try Jim Yaeger's pro-am, though no relation.
