Free money? Not likely.
Doesn’t free grant money to start or expand your home-based business sound great! Who wouldn’t want to jump at that chance? There are plenty of books, e-books and websites out there promising to help you get government grants, most for a small fee of about $50. Well, that’s not much of an investment, is it?
If it were true, it would be a good deal. After all, grant writing is a business in itself. Unfortunately these publications are just another scam. While not promising you untold riches in the home-based business world, it is promising you free government money. The problem is this money simply does not exist.
Fortunately a quick search for home-based business grants brings up several sites alerting searchers to this. These sites are very clear that there are no grants for any business except not-for-profits and technology development companies. Chances are, your home-based business does not fall in those categories.
According to Business.gov there are sometimes grants available on a local or state level for specialized businesses, such as day care centers. The site has a handy tool for searching for this type of grants. These are generally few and far between.
So as it turns out the best way to get money for your home-based business is old-fashioned hard work, savings, or small-business loans.
