Priscilla Woolworth is our guest today and, if the name reminds you of a past industry—you're right! Home and Living remembers F.W. Woolworth Company and has fond memories of this remarkable "five and dime." Let's find out what's new for today.

Q.: For Home and Living Readers, who is Priscilla Woolworth?

A.: I am a citizen of the world, a mother, gardener, nature and animal lover. I feel very fortunate that I love my work with a passion. Nothing makes me happier than when I find a fabulous product or fascinating information to share with my customers who would like to learn about living an effortless lifestyle that helps them and our environment be healthier.

Q.: What was your impetus for starting your online store, www.priscillawoolworth.com?

A.: Because I had wanted a cool and practical source to go to for eco products, couldn't find one that I could relate to, so I decided to create my own. I think I am my own best customer!

Q.: What is it about your online enterprise priscillawoolworth.com that makes it special?

A.: It's different because it's personal. It reflects my life and my philosophy of living. I care that the products my customers use in their home environment are non-toxic above all. Everything I sell, I have used at one time or another and wouldn't sell something I didn't love.

Q.: Home and Living received a few products from your line, the People Towels, the Lemon Lavender Soap, and the recycled Feed Bags, thank you. Would you mind saying a bit about each item?

A.: The People Towel is an easy alternative to paper towels, or can be used as a napkin in your child's lunch. The Lemon Lavender Soap is so delicious that I use it every day to wash my face, and because of its antibacterial qualities, I love it even more! The Produce Bags made from vintage feed bags, which I had made, are very practical and are an excellent alternative to plastic produce bags.

Q.: Your products are divided up into what areas? I know there is the Home goods line.

A.: Products are divided up into 12 categories, from Home products to Garden, Office and School, Personal Care, Kids, Pets, Books, Gifts, Fair Trade, from Recycled Materials, Priscilla Woolworth Designs and New Arrivals—visit the site to check out the latest products.

Q.: What is the one coolest product you have and why?

A.: The Valentina composter because it's so great looking and practical. I designed it for people who live in apartments, with a terrace or live on their own in a house. It's smaller than the other composters on the market and it can double as an outdoor side table.

Q.: Are you going to be adding other merchandise? And how do you find your new products?

A.: New products will be added to my site all the time. I'm forever looking for new products wherever I am; some I need and some I love just because. If I can't find it, I make it.

Q.: What did you learn from your family’s legacy and what is your overall goal?

A.: I love the eclectic selection that Woolworth's offered, it's lack of exclusivity, it's affordability, and that you could always count on finding what you came looking for. My French legacy offered a lifesyle for living in sync with nature and the seasons, eating locally grown food, and learning an appreciation for a meaningful yet simpler way of living.

Q.: Is there anything else you would like to tell Home and Living?

A.: That each of us has so much power to change the world just by what we buy. Show your support by putting your money towards businesses that are making non-toxic and environmentally safe products. Non-toxic cleaning products, for example, could become the norm rather than the exception.
