New Moon: Women make up 80 percent of audience, Robert Pattinson knows why

The vampire film New Moon is breaking all types of records at the box office, with the majority of movie goers being female. (See: 'New Moon' sets new records, Hollywood celebs check out New York Screening.)

In fact, "a whopping 80 percent of New Moon tickets went to women. Theatergoers were evenly split between those under 21-years-old and over", according to CNN.com.

However, the male/female break down isn't shocking to New Moon hunk Robert Pattinson as he recently told press:

Getting involved in  has definitely changed my mind about how people are kind of fanatical about wanting to have the perfect relationship. I had no idea that people were so desperate and felt like it was so unobtainable. They want to put this idea of unconditional devotion just so high above everything else, which is why they can’t get enough of this story.”

The Twilight franchise "taps into something primal and visceral that drives women crazy, and they're willing to pay for the privilege," explained Paul Dergarabedian, box-office analyst for Hollywood.com.

So congrats to Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner for fulfilling several million female fantasies. Who wouldn't want to be caught in a love triangle with a hot vampire and even hotter werewolf?

    the romance genre reveals women's obsession with men of power and status, as well as their disdain for average men, whom them view to be beneath them. this is why men instinctively don't want women to be equal to themselves, because women don't respect such men.

    @womensuck:
    I never thought the movies/books were about anything what you said..Obviously you haven't read the books either.
    They tell about a fantasy of Edward's UNCONDITIONAL love for Bella and the fact that you can be a normal teenager like Bella(insecure/clumsy/awkward)and still be able to catch the hot, perfect guy.What makes Edward perfect has nothing to do with "status/power" it's that he is handsome,acts like a gentleman and LOVES Bella more than life itself(!)-a package that many feel is impossible to catch in real life(at least for the average Jane).
    Men must feel very insecure about themselves then if you can't feel comfortable being equal to women..Personally I don't care if a guy has "power",it's a matter of confidence.What are you talking about "their disdain for average men"?What do you mean by average anyway?Any woman will respect a man who respects themselves AND a woman as their equal,that's it.Seems more like you're the 1 who needs to feel powerful to feel adequat
