In a recent online poll, rapper Kanye West was voted the "biggest turkey" of 2009 - even beating out reality dad Jon Gosselin.
West is known for being outspoken, with his most recent outburst being the now infamous MTV Video Music Awards interruption of country singer Taylor Swift's acceptance speech.
The “Stronger” rapper received 42 percent of nearly 75,000 votes on an online poll conducted by PopEater, beating out Spencer Prat, Levi Johnston, and Jon Gosselin.
Since the VMA fiasco, West has remained under the media radar, with the exception of being spotted most recently in Europe.
The "808 & Heartbreak" star was seen in Rome with girlfriend Amber Rose and just last week, spotted shopping in Paris (see photo above).
“Kanye might do some dumb things, but he’s smart,” said one source close to West.
“He knows he needs to come back from this break changed, and that isn’t going to happen at some rehab overlooking the ocean.....he has a chance to come back seeming like he learned something from what happened.”
Another source explained, “Kanye cemented his fate when he interrupted Taylor Swift while she was giving her acceptance speech at the Video Music Awards. He had a very bad moment, but he helped propel Taylor Swift to a whole new level of likability.”
In fact, Taylor Swift came in second place in the “Who would you like to invite to Thanksgiving dinner?” question, trailing winner George Clooney.

In a world of grotesque human rights violations, child pornography and a daunting lack of human morality and compassion, Kanye West's lapse in judgment pales. I am at a loss to see why Taylor Swift rates this kind of consideration. It was barely reported when President Obama was called a liar during a joint session of Congress. No public outcry or outrage, but Taylor Swift? The world rallies ‘round. What an appalling statement this makes on the nation’s priorities. Kanye West has apologized and Taylor Swift has won every award available to her this year. It is time to move on.

I agree with the Taylor swift comment, If anything he boosted her music and publicity and made her well-known. He may not always do the right thing, but no one is perfect, and I love his character and style and uniqueness!

Hello WhatLapse: Kanye certainly is entitled to his opinion but it is not considered courteous to interrupt someone when they are talking, let alone when they are giving an acceptance speech for an award. I think Kanye recognized this and that is why he apologized, not because he thinks Taylor Swift is deserving. I think he's been raked over the coals long enough for what I see as a minor infraction. He apologized more than once...she accepted ..it was over until they named him "biggest Turkey".

I think it all goes back to the line from "Never Let You Down" where Kanye said, "Racism still alive they just be concealing it". Much of the backlash I've read/heard has alot of racist undertones to it. Let's be better about that.
(Despite that, I do wonder what Kanye would have done had SHE (Taylor Swift) tried to take his mic and voice her opinion on a category.)In summation, I think MTV should plan something where Kanye will win an award and while he's giving his Thank-You speech, Taylor Swift will come and snatch the mic, but to say like she forgives him and then Kanye will say something like "I take it back... you did have the best video that year. (Sorry, Beyonce)". That's good press.

Kanye is a turkey--but Jon Gosselin is the true turkey of the year. Kanye only showed his stupidity for a brief time. Jon's been acting stupid regularly for a LONG time.
Are you kidding?? Kanye won this award over Lindsay Lohen's dad and Jon Gosselin, seriously? Little Taylor Swift would be on her way out to bargain bin cd racks and county fair performances if Kanye's little blunder hadn't propelled her into the hearts of middle America. Leave Kanye alone. He is a brilliant artist with at-times poor self-control. He apologized already.
Not according to other websites, Jon won top Turkey out of 10 nominated for 2009. Lots of polls out there, and many of them put Jon Gosselin as the top Turkey.
