Her decision to quit The Hills is not something Lauren Conrad regrets. Conrad, is also, one of the few people that has gotten away from the reality shadow and kept her fame past the 15 min mark.
The 23-year-old told Cosmopolitan that after five seasons of the show, she felt it had changed too much and the time was right to leave. "The show started out very aspirational," she said. "But by the time I left, it was becoming something else and I knew it was time to leave.
” She told the magazine one of the main factors that tipped her over the edge was the pressure from show bosses for her and former sidekick Heidi Montag to become friends again.
“What they didn't get is that I didn't want to fight with her any more," Conrad said. "It's hard to look at somebody who used to be your best friend and say, '
We can't be friends. Too much has happened.' I'm trying to move on, but they won't let me. And when someone keeps pushing you into the same position, well ... you get upset."
Since her departure, she’s been working on an affordable fashion line, as well as a book, and said she is excited about what the future holds. “I've always had another season to look forward to, but now life is a little more unplanned,” she said. “It's really exciting."
