Knowledge is information that you've been exposed to and integrated into your mind as something you know and are aware of.
Once you've been presented with something new and learn about it, at what point does that knowledge translate into wisdom?
True wisdom is more than just applied knowledge. You may be able to "see one, do one, teach one," but that doesn't necessarily qualify you as a wise person.
For example, you know you shouldn't smoke, and you decide to quit. Yet you continue with a daily struggle, your stress level and blood pressure increases, and you end up substituting one addiction for another. Does that constitute wisdom?
True wisdom should be considered from a holistic and conscious perspective. Learning something new that supports your growth and development journey is only one step in the process.
Incorporating that knowledge by improving your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and spiritual beliefs related to the experience is what can help you gain inner wisdom.
Holistic wisdom is can be described as such:
- Mind/mental - Knowing the right thing to do
- Heart/emotional - Feeling good and at peace for doing the right thing
- Body/physical - Actually doing the right thing
- Soul/spiritual - Soulfully inspiring yourself and others by doing the right thing
Sage men and women often have characteristics that classify them as wise ones. They've been known to practice daily self-reflection, have increased self-awareness, are open to personal development, accept diversity but understand the unity within all, embrace creative expression, and follow a spiritual path.

Affirmations: I learn about myself every day and transform that knowledge into personal wisdom. I alter my thoughts, feelings, actions, and purposeful connections to gain personal insight, apply what I've learned, and inspire others in the highest and best way. I practice daily wisdom.

Good article Alice. I believe that knowledge turns into wisdom when it helps oursleves, and those around us in any way possible. Even knowledge of evil and negative things can ultimately turn to good by the way we use the information, even if it just in a warning to others.
