Mind Matter Interaction Lamps (Psyleron)
Thanks to over 27 year’s research at the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research (PEAR) Laboratory and the company Psyleron, we can now own a lamp that reads our minds.
PEAR was an experimental program that examined the anomalies that arise when humans interact with machines. Years of research produced evidence of an unexplained connection between consciousness and the physical world.
Robert G. Jahn, then Dean of the School of Engineering, used Random Event Generators (REGs) and observed conscious intention and meaningful emotion significantly altered the events generated by the REG; beyond statistical levels of chance expectation. See “The PEAR Proposition.”
The PEAR Proposition
The Mind Lamp is a new ambient LED lamp, created by Psyleron, in collaboration with these researchers from the PEAR lab. Within the Mind Lamp is a precision device known as a random event generator (REG) that uses a quantum phenomenon called electron tunneling, which is measured as a randomly fluctuating current across a potential barrier in an electric circuit.
The lamp has a small microprocessor that checks patterns in this Random Event Generator (REG) which causes the lamp to change the color of the high-powered LEDs. The lamp will randomly move through colors of white, red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue, purple and magenta unless influenced by the conscious or subconscious intention of consciousness.
The researchers state that the science behind this might be a bit difficult for the lay person but the effects are noticeable to anyone. Interesting enough, not only does the consciousness of one person influence the REG in the lamp but when people are bonded in some meaningful way; the influence is even stronger.

What the hell is this? We're being told that our brain just happens to affect an external object, without a known connection between them, and we're expected to take this as gospel, without explanation, because the science behind it is too simple for laypeople?
Give me a break. This is New Age pseudoscience, clear and simple.
There is a complete "explanation" and 27 years of research behind it on the PEAR website and the Mind Lamp website in Resources.
You can view the complete details there. There is a limit to the length and detail that can be presented in the column here. The mention of it being difficult to understand for the lay person in no way implies a ploy to "believe because you can't understand" it implied simply that some advanced knowledge of physics may be necessary, which is easily learned if someone spends the necessary time to study it. The resources section is there for a reason.

There are probably cheaper ways to get a lamp to change color based on your mind...controlling your hand to move a switch.
It's amazing how polarize people are in response to these things. There was a lab, it conducted research, it obtained results - and those results were applied to a fun product. Just because the results don't fit into what people commonly expect and just because they can't be explained by prevailing theories doesn't mean that it is pseudo-science or some kind of plot to trick people. Group prayer, psychic power, etc, break the laws of thermodynamics. We can accelerate a Electron around a 28 mile circle (at close to the speed of light) and record it’s effects; however we can’t measure prayer energy? We can’t measure it because it doesn’t exist; your brain can’t produce enough energy to transmit a prayer nor affect a goofy lamp.
Put it in a room with a brain dead person (Fmri verified) and I bet it would change just the same.
I think this is very interesting and I intend to do more research on it. I think that some people cannot open their minds to the possibilities of new discovery and that is sad. Just because you have never heard of it before or seen it for yourself does not mean it isnt possible. I'm glad I discovered your page. Very interesting. I believe that similiar studies with positive results were done years ago on the interaction between people and houseplants. Hard to believe - but so are a lot of things in our world.

What quackery. Do people really not understand the concept of the "random event generator" that powers the lamp? It randomly generates colors. That's all. Just because a particular color is sometimes correlated with what someone thinks about the lamp doesn't mean thoughts are causing the lamp to change color.
Stephen: If you read the article correctly the research shows: "It significantly altered the events generated by the REG (random event generator); beyond statistical levels of chance expectation."
What might be really interesting would be to have the lamp stay one color UNTIL it is acted on by someone's mind. That might satisfy some of the skeptics!
You should make a YouTube video of the person in the room with an actual lamp and think of a color, like tell us what their going to think of then think of it then show us! :D

Loved the article! As someone who works in the semiconductor manufacturing field I can appreciate how computers are an early indicator of the merging of consciousness with the physical world. Thanks for taking the risk and writing about this.
For those of us with the ability to think and actually take the time to conduct experiments to test our theories, it is easily shown that the human mind and brain is much more powerful than we at first realized and that our mind can influence physical objects as well as energies not visible to the human eye. (Yes, including manipulating "power of prayer" and other magickal energies.)

I will check this out further. I really appreciate your column and intend to frequent it. Thanks for posting this information...it will be especially sweet when the doubters realize that there is nothing New Age or pseudo about the fact that energy flows through all things and is as simple as science gets.
This is somewhat the message in "Celestine Prophecy"
After conducting rigorous double-blind tests on this lamp I am convinced that it is completely random and un-influenced by conciousness as the maker claims. Anecdotal evidence on the other hand is compelling - there are numerous times where the colour of the lamp coincides with the colour intended and that fits in the situation.
Therefore it is easy to see why people can spend some time with it and see it working. However it does NOT stand up to commonly accepted scientific standards.
Its looks great though, so hopefully I'll get my money back on eBay.
Would the lamp be affected by supernatural entities ? I believe in ghosts and wonder if the mind lamp would show if other consciousness was in the room with you?
