October Astrology: Taming the Wild Things

October 2009: Monthly predictions for those who appreciate this ancient science.

General

We are almost there…inches away from reaching some form of dry land. The phantasmagoric haze surrounding us will lift somewhat by the end of the month.

Like Max in Where the Wild Things Are, we will return to find we were safely sleeping in our beds the entire time. A hot and heavy Aries Full Moon will be shining through our bedroom windows urging us to new adventures and we notice… our food is still hot. Did we tame the “wild things” in our lives without blinking once like Max?

Hopefully, these past months have brought some order to our lives.

Since this is a Harvest Moon, we will reap the fruits of the long Virgo audit and hop on the Jupiter train with whatever goodies the auditor left us. Jupiter will finally chug forward after a 4 month park at the Cosmic Station. In mundane terms this means our projects and dreams will finally get a move on. Now, like Antoine de Saint Exupery’s Little Prince, with sword in hand, we are ready to leave our little lonely asteroid B612, to search out new worlds, lessons and experiences. A lady, Venus, and an older man, Saturn, take seats next to us on our journey. As we look out the window, the beautiful land of Libra approaches from mid-month on.

We finally leave the harsh reality, the miserly, miserable, obsessive-compulsive land of Virgo and enter the soothing and graceful land of Libra, full of people who want to interact with us. The type of bliss only felt by the caress of another person touches us, fills our hearts like the Siren’s song and will urge us to leave our secure isolation and enter into the maze of Human relationship.

Aries

A lot of big issues appear before you all at once. Issues that need wise solutions, attention and follow-through to mature. You won’t react this time, you will respond. You know the threats are real and you have worked too hard to not see these issues through to the end. You will sweat these few last steps out and others will help you in the nick of time. Though you might not perceive this as a team effort (Aries has a hard time seeing the team, even if it is there), you will notice your helpers now, and soberly feel grateful for a moment. There is an undercurrent of dissatisfaction with everything from your job to your relationships. It’s one of those times where everything annoys and nothing pleases. The core of this feeling stems from a deep feeling of hopelessness that nothing will ever change. It will now. There is a way out. If something isn’t satisfying anymore, leave or at least start planning your escape. If you have worked out the problems and differences, you probably already have moved to the next level of commitment and intimacy, so commit completely. As mentioned above, the Jupiter trains are finally leaving the station to new and brighter places. Armed with your newly harvested financially sober efforts, charisma and charming smiles, the land of Libra will welcome you into new commitments and deals ( if the old ones spoiled) and let you eat the fruit off those firmly rooted ones you planted long ago.

Taurus

The question now is whether you are going to passively choose and accept whatever is already there on your plate or actively figure out what you want. This is one of the few times your subtle fear of the unknown can’t be relieved by a cupcake or shopping spree. The reason why you notice something isn’t quite right now and haven’t in the past is because you are actually more conscious now of what is going on in your life and nothing really meets your standards anymore. You realize you need to take a step in another direction or take on a bigger commitment, but you are already burdened down with other responsibilities that leave no room and energy to make any changes in a redundant situation. The correct action is to let go of what you can live without and realize the blocks in your life were self-imposed. The obstacles actually created a false sense of security that temporarily alleviated the fear created in you from the “apparently” fearful events in your surroundings. The truth is what you were viewing as your present life situation was just your projected inner anxiety played out in front of your eyes; time to take the reins of your life back and let go of the chains that bind.

Gemini

One small little demon, one minor setback, some bounced check or minor misunderstanding and then you are home free. No need to get all superstitious that everything is going to go all wrong again because of this small glitch in the system. Actually, you survived the worst and your goals are clearer than ever. You have incredible fortitude and magnanimity now. Even a peculiar type of forgiveness and generosity has become a permanent feature of your character. Objectivity in relationship has wiped out the few vestiges of dependence that colored your relationships in the past and you are finally capable of loving deeply and maintaining your identity without ploys and withdrawals. There is a vein of fortunate occurrences that come a bit too easily, so much so it sparks even your suspicions of their integrity. Yes, a few are a bit overboard and buzzed with overly confident giddiness created by the freedom of recent release. If you temper the inflation and excitement over finally being able to move forward (and actually know where you are going and why), you will finally attract the attention of those “in power” or in the know and get the stamp of approval you have been waiting for all these months.

Cancer

The last details, papers are signed and the final touches are put to the long term issues in your home life and outer worldly life. Daily life is strewn with people who have no intention of agreeing with you, so the way to go is to work around them rather than convince them to join your efforts. Just sign. You are sober enough now to know what you need for your security. Even the indecisive among you will find that maybe the person you are with isn’t so bad, the place you live has its merits and the work you do offers a few new challenges. As the difficulties of the past fade from view, you may see that where you are right now is the best place to be. Maybe just a few fixes here and there. A trade-in of the old for something relatively new and a surprising fast forward of something you have wanted to happen for a long while, towards the end of the month. Your home becomes your castle. As “The Voice” said in Field of Dreams: “Build the field and they will come.” Don’t wait any longer; you know you are right about what course to take. The time has come to settle in to your own space and be king or queen of your own castle and if your court wants to follow later, you will welcome them.

Leo

A few new ideas pop into your mind. Though spontaneous and raw; they prod you to make some decisions about those annoying financial issues. You know the time has come to get that sorted and you can’t waver and procrastinate any longer. It’s okay to wait until the end of the month, but when the sound of the Jupiter train conductor calls “all aboard” and the ticket to “what you have been waiting for” arrives in the mail, you have to seize the moment. You’ll find a temporary niche that will make you some much needed cash and a couple of people will enter your life to renew your spirits. These souls will show you more of what is possible, since they live in places with better views. You will win out, despite all these endless setbacks and it really helps that you have learned to catch yourself before you roar. This finesse has gained you entrance into the land of the “fair and beautiful” Libra, without having to pick fights or coyly manipulate your way in. Diplomacy is the name of the game. Just remember to inform others of your plans before you go and do what you do, whether they agree with you or not is not the issue.

Virgo

A little Hollywood glitter, the promise of more exciting and dazzling daily life is sprinkled about by Jupiter’s forward movement later in the month. These promising moments of the “good life” though might not have any glue to stick to in your normal everyday reality. There are still worries and struggles, as you juggle the financial aspects of your life and you know you must pace yourself. The opportunities, whether for new fast cash internet schemes, a great audition, a trip to some exotic place, a meeting with some God or Wall Street guru or the man/woman of your dreams, might not pan out as quickly as you would like. What is really going on is a preview of possibilities, which gives you some practical knowledge about what needs fixing in your personality and physical image. You may think you are just fine and wonderful, but you realize somehow by this contact with the “fine and fair” world of glitz that there are subtle mannerisms and physical cues that give you away. The polish isn’t there. So, it’s time to tweak your physical body and mind, the carrier of your soul, and make it a more perfect representation of your inner world. Once the refinements are in place, and the boost in finances shows itself, you will probably hit your head against the wall, that you didn’t straighten those creases in your blouse sooner.

Libra

A rite of passage, either actual or metaphorical, stamps this transitory time. If we fast forward to the end of the month, there will be no need for any predictions here. Whatever is going to happen will and wherever you are supposed to be will be clear enough. But, in the interim, there are a few clues. The first is that your decisions will be based on being closer to important people in your life. The second is that there are better places to make a living and have the lifestyle and things you want in your life. If you don’t heed the signs of change, a number of strange cosmic events will present themselves. The feast or famine aspects of parts of your life, whether in relationships or work, will decidedly take you to the end of your rope. Your whole being will crave the stability of a steady paycheck or stable partnership and now is the time you will do just about anything to get that. The point is you can’t evolve your spirit, if your stomach isn’t full and you can’t “know thyself” if no one is there to give you feedback. You’ve finally realized this.

Scorpio

Though you are fully primed for your debut into the stream of current events; situations from your past, your heritage, or personal history come up for review. The messages from the past come through at least four or five people who will either represent these roles metaphorically for you or the actual people from the past will contact you. Each person will represent in caricature, a part of your multifaceted Self: The successful self and the one who failed, the one who dreams through hopes and wishes and last but not least, the inner saboteur. One of these people will play out your repertoire of emotions in a larger than life way with a dose of melodrama. The other will play out your feelings about money and security with their grand and glorious lifestyle. The next visitor offers you meaningful work (you are quite capable of, but hesitate to do) and finally the last ghost of the past tempts you to engage your warrior spirit once more (for you to see just how much you adore your life)… when it is on your own terms. The key is to look and blend these elements of the past into a composite image of power…which is finally the most perfect representation of you, Scorpio. There is ample time to prepare the pieces, find the right elements and new players before constructing the final model. Don’t rush.

Sagittarius

On one level, this month is the beginning of the end of whatever was (good or bad), though you will only realize this later in retrospect. You will be asked to confront the way you are supporting yourself materially and financially and who you are supporting materially and financially. Either more money comes in suddenly from something done in the past or an opportunity appears (though also connected somehow to the past) that offers you greater stability. Though your status quo will be a bit upset by this intense push and pull between the old world and the new, the end of the matter is decided upon by the end of the month. What’s clear is that until then, you will have to prepare yourself to let go of your hesitation and fear in order to prepare yourself for the change in status. It will feel somewhat like an earthquake, even if the changes are positive; the cracks in your quaint lifestyle will be apparent. Next month, we will know more about who will accompany you on this new journey and what new creative vistas open because of your decision to expand and of course now; that the hand of Fate has played its Joker card. Deep down you love the gamble though, so this is an exciting time for you and your family.

Capricorn

You might need to refer to a higher source of knowledge to navigate this time in your life. Whether through the medium a book, teacher or mentor; some words of wisdom are necessary at this fork in the road. Was this existential crisis brought on by dissatisfaction or by you being so entangled in mundane affairs you forgot what you believed in? In either case, this is one of those times only the invisible can cure the visible. A few clues to help untangle your mind and soul: The core of this confusion is that up until now you were siphoning all your energy into survival and outer actions. You felt somewhat tired and even if you are young, you felt old. The weariness was caused by your soul’s stubborn refusal to follow a lifestyle without meaning and feeling. What makes people youthful is the effluence of emotion and feeling they possess and the range of feelings they can still feel. Whether someone else triggers an emotional reaction in you or a criticism of your work triggers a chain of inner searching, it would be best to shelve your judgmental, authoritarian self for this part of the journey and really face the raw experience and the full range of your Human senses.

Aquarius

Remember back four months ago. Did you have a dream…a vision? That package of dreams you sent out for delivery back then has been stuck in customs and as mentioned above, no trains were leaving the station. In this interim though, you had to actually eat and drink with regular mortals and you found them all quite charming. Actually, maybe even a few have you in mind for some new ventures. Offers come by the end of the month and it seems suddenly as if you are in some Axe deodorant commercial where everyone is popping out of the woodwork; wanting and chasing you down the street. But, quirky as you are, now that all you ever wanted is offered, you might just choose to do “something completely different” and surprise the lot of us as usual. Aquarians have access to a magical inner closet where they can metaphorically don the robe of a wizard and create lightening effects that send the Fates whirling into space. This is one such time your magic wand actually works and it isn’t the incantations, it’s just …you are… what’s"in" now. So, ride this wave, squeeze every drop out of this opportune time, ask for everything and take everything you can get your hands on because this is the last time the Genie will appear for another 12 years.

Pisces

Though you are probably more burned out than ever, this month’s end promises to send your tired, weary body and soul through a magical gateway away from your problems. The image is you lying there with hardly any strength left to get up, with demands and sudden financial concerns piled on your head and half a dozen knives in your back from betrayals and the inconsiderate actions of others, when suddenly a magical air fills the scene and swoops you up like “The Beast” in Beauty and Beast and transforms you into a handsome prince or princess. No, this is not a fairy tale. It will happen. The Fates will prop you up on your feet and you will be able to blaze a new trail with this new self. This self is clever and has a real out-of-the-box type of personality that confounds your enemies and makes you someone everyone wants to be with. Choose you company wisely, don’t share your magic with anyone and if you hold on tightly to this new star that is guiding your life, it will lead to a wonderful companion or partner to build all those dreams with, either business-wise or love-wise.
