Studies have shown positive results from adding important supplements, healthy lifestyle and good diet for heart health. For a person dealing with fatigue and pain that comes with heart disease these tips are valuable to help live a better quality of life even after heart attack or coronary artery disease, heart failure and cardiovascular disease.

Heart disease is still the number one cause of death. One person dies every 30 seconds from heart failure. This is not just a condition of the elderly but people ages 35 to 64 have a serious rate of death in heart disease.

Dr. Becker of Your Health TV show shares great holistic tips for heart health. He shares a list of supplements that help with pain, prevention from more serious health issues and better quality of life. He points out that medications don’t supply energy where supplements can boost energy and help a person who is struggling to walk to the mailbox and fighting pain. Dr. Becker also shared his personal testimony of how he dealt with heart issues as a result of his chemotherapy treatment for cancer. He used natural supplements and got great results.

Here is a list of supplements Dr. Becker recommends:

Co Q10
This is a supplement that promotes healthy cardiovascular function and general longevity. Helps keep the heart at a normal size, which is important because strain of the heart causes enlarged heart. Co Q10 also improves fatigue, lowers blood pressure and turns glucose into energy. The Japanese have researched Co Q10 and gives prescriptions out on CoQ10 because of all of the benefits they discovered.

L-Carnitine
This is an amino acid from which certain proteins are made of. Humans have a natural amount of L-Carnitine in the body but it decreases with age and disease. L-Carnitine turns fat into energy. The benefits of L-Carnitine have been found to decrease pain. A study found people were less likely to go into heart failure taking this supplement.

Magnesium
America is magnesium deficient. A Swiss study found countries with more magnesium in the drinking water have fewer deaths from heart conditions. A British study found 25% lower rate of cardio attacks with the increase of magnesium. It even helps to keep blood pressure down. Cindy Becker; Dr. Becker's wife and co-host talked about getting magnesium shots from your doctor because the benefits are so great. Dr. Becker said people with kidney failure should not take magnesium and to follow their doctor’s recommendations.

D-Ribose
This is a supplement that comes in powder form and improves muscle recovery and cardiovascular health. Patients with heart failure taking D-Ribose showed positive results. The University of California did a study that saw a 44% improvement in quality of life. The body naturally makes D-Ribose.

Essential Fatty Acids
A popular health food store in suburbs of Chicago, Sunrise health foods recently posted an article on the benefits of Flaxseed. Flaxseed Lowers Cholesterol in Men. Harvard did a study with 5000 women over a 16 year time period and found talking the fish oil five times a week reduced heart disease by 64%. It keeps the arteries soft and flexible. We can help manage our CHF and prolong our lives, by not smoking, restricting or eliminating altogether alcohol consumption, eating a diet low in salt and fat, and exercising. Doctors may prescribe medications, such as beta-blockers, ACE inhibitors and diuretics. to help improve heart function and treat resulting symptoms, such as swelling and fluid retention. Surgery, including the insertion of a pacemaker or a transplant, may also be necessary. Life expectancy with CHF, as with other diseases and conditions, is most bleak when diagnosed as end stage.
