Another reason to watch our sugar intake a recent study discovered drinking sodas or adding sugar to your coffee can increase your risk of developing pancreatic cancer. Channel 7 ABC news in Chicago made this alarming report today.

The researchers discovered that people who drink sodas or syrup-based drinks twice a day were 90 percent more likely to develop pancreatic cancer in a study. People who added sugar to their drinks about five times a day were 70 percent more likely to contract the disease. People who regularly eat sugary desserts increase the risk also.

This report just backs the fact that people need to stay away from white sugar, high fructose corn syrup and all the dangerous sweeteners. Dr. Oz mentioned this on a recent show Oprah aired recently about diabetes. Oprah’s fitness expert Bob Greene shared foods that have hidden sugar such as ranch dressing, sodas and cereals.

Sugar is America’s no. 1 addiction and most time people don’t even know. Sugar is hidden in our foods and has aliases such as high fructose corn syrup, lactose, maltose, sucrose, dextrose, brown sugar, rice syrup, golden syrup, confectioner's sugar, dextrin, molasses, honey and dehydrated cane juice, to name a few.

Did you know refined sugar is far more addictive than cocaine? In fact, it’s one of the most addictive substances you can consume. Dr. Mercola mentioned this in one of his recent blog posts discussing belly fat health issues.

Converting over to healthier sweeteners could save a life. Look into natural sweeteners such as stevia, xylitol and agave nectar.

My sister was recently diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer after fighting the Emerging Disease Morgellons . The course of this disease appears to be following that of a slow A.I.D.S. . Parasites and infections often accompany this disease. Many in our community have passed on from Cancer. Is Morgellons also caused by the X.M.R.V. virus found in over 90% of the blood of Chronic Fatigue/Fibro patients.

My sister is a heavy cola drinker but developed Pancreatic Cancer shortly after she discontinued Cola use. We believe Schistosoma parasites were robbing her pancreas of its natural production of bi-carbonate, Cola has the bi-carbonate needed to break down food.
The C.D.C. has concluded the research into the causal agent of Morgellons. They are sharing the results with other agencies. They have been extremely slow to release the results , saying they must identify the“Stakeholders”.

Thankfully I do not drink pop during the week. Sadly, I still love a good soda every now and then. Who would have known so many things that taste so good can cause so many problems. Thanks for the article, I don't think I'll ever be able to look at a can of pop the same again.

I don't really care to drink soda anymore. Sometimes I'll get some sparking water and put SweetLeaf root beer flavored liquid stevia in it, or around the holidays I like Martinelli's sparkling cider.

    Thanks for the information!

What about DIET soda? Do artificial sweeteners have the same effect?

Doug, artificial sweeteners have their own lists of bad side effects. Good topic for another article. But do your research on artificial sweeteners like Splenda, Aspartame and see what you find.
