Spring has sprung, well at least the spring weather is trying to break through and it is time to shed our heavy winter coats and shed off those extra pounds we packed on under our winter clothes. A recent report on ABC’s Good Morning America talked about the latest workout trends in America. The best part about living in Chicago is you can always find the same opportunities in our neighborhoods that may be popular in other big cities.
Besides having a tight, sexy body working out is great for heart health, circulation, fighting depression and stress. No matter what age or sex you are, it is important to get moving.
Let’s get motivated and get moving with some of these popular workout trends.
1. Group workouts
It is always more motivating to workout with others. This has been popular in the health clubs and gyms for years. L.A. has a popular extreme military type boot camp that is big.
In Chicago yelp.com posted good reviews for Windy City’s Boot Camps. With one of the most beautiful city lakefronts, the beaches of Chicago would be one of the best places to workout.
2. Home equipment for under $20
Hit your local sporting goods store for low price workout equipment if you are on a tight budget or jump on Amazon and shop online. Grab some workout equipment and do these exercises in your own backyard.
Find a local Sport Authority in your area or do a search online for a good sporting goods store.
3. Rolling machines and the Ab Circle Pro
These are great workouts to target mid-section, flatten your stomach and rid love handles. Many of your favorite health clubs has the rolling machines or you could purchase the Ab Circle Pro and “Go from flab to ab.”
4. Focus on the CORE
This is a great to get fit and helps strengthen your back and abs in a short time. Many classes at the health clubs focus on core strength these days. One core program got good reviews on yelp.com for their core program. Core Strength Fitness on Farwell Ave, on Chicago’s north side got a review saying “Fabulous instruction and I love the no attitude no intimidation factor. People of all experience levels and age…” They received four stars. Try a Pilates course in Chicago for core strength also.
Another “old school” core workout that is becoming popular again is Hoola hoop. This workout is great for dancing, exercise and meditation.
5. Girls just wanna have fun
Want to get a workout, spa treatments and have some fun with the girls? This hot spot is popular in Chicago’s South loop, Firty Girl’s Fitness.
