The Texas Brahmas were at least doing better than our Dallas Stars in that they, at least, made it to the CHL Southern Conference Semifinal playoffs. But facing the Odessa Jackalopes was more than the Brahmas could overcome as they lost again Monday night.
A powerplay for Odessa set them up for the first score of the night as Kenny Bernard pushed the puck past Brahmas goalie Brett Jaeger. Three minutes later, Jason Deitsch drilled it over Jack's goalie Juha Toivonen's glove to tie the game 1-1, thanks to setup by James Hiebert. Then Texas gained the lead with a powerplay goal when Brahmas defenseman Luke Sellars slapped a shot, providing a rebound opportunity for Lee Jubinville, his third goal of the postseason. Unfortunately, the Jacks' forward Jeff Pierce netted a goal as a penalty to Brahmas blueliner Tyrell Mason expired.
In the second period, Jason Deitsch scored again. Jordan Cameron scored his third of the playoffs as well.
Game six went into overtime and Collin Circelli ended the Brahmas season when he beat Jaeger with 17:56 remaining in the extra period.
It seems very strange to think there is no more Brahmas hockey this season, but they played hard and did their best on the ice, which is all anyone could ask. I will look forward to the 2010/2011 season and the 2011 playoffs.
