Indianapolis, IA: The Diana Jones Award is an annual award created to publicly acknowledge excellence in gaming. Started in 2000, past winners included Peter Adkison (founder of Wizards of the Coast), Ticket to Ride (published by Days of Wonder), and Wolfgang Baur (Open Design business model).
This year's award went to Dominion, a card game designed by Donald X. Vaccarino and published by Rio Grane Games. In this card game, you play the ruler of a small kingdom, with aspirations do build a proper monarchy. Your goal is to expand to incorporate the kindgoms of your neighbors, the other players.
First released in 2008, Dominion's past awards include 2008 Meeples Choice, 2009 Mensa Select, 2009 Origins (Card Game), and 2009 Spiel des Jahres.
