PITTSBURGH — Power outages continue across Allegheny County today with more than 45,000 customers without electrical service. Driving conditions continue to be challenging in some areas. Power lines and trees are continuing to fall due to the heavy snow and ice.

Allegheny County Emergency Services & 9-1-1

Call volumes to Allegheny County 9-1-1 remain high. Residents should only call 9-1-1 in the event of an emergency.

Residents should report power outages directly to their power companies. Non-emergency calls and questions, such as requests for snow removal and plowing, should be directed to the municipalities. Please do not call 9-1-1 for non-emergency issues.

Allegheny County Emergency Services continues to ask motorists to limit driving and stay off of streets and roadways to allow public works crews, power companies and emergency responders to conduct their work.

Allegheny County Public Works

The vast majority of county-owned roads are clear of snow and ice. Trees are continuing to fall in some areas, which may result in road closures. Motorists should stay home, but use caution if venturing out.

The following county-owned roads are currently closed due to downed power lines:

  • Lougeay Road in Wilkins Twp.
  • Cliff Mine Road in North Fayette Twp.
  • Pangburn Hollow Road in Elizabeth
  • Glen Avenue in Shaler Twp.
