Los Angeles City Hall
On Saturday October 17th, 2009, USC hosted the 4th Annual Archives Bazaar, calling it "LA as Subject." The event was a huge success for the people it brought together from across the Los Angeles basin. It gave a platform to unsung heroes of local history -- librarians, archivists, collectors, genealogists and historians.
By collecting together these rare artifacts of culture and place in Los Angeles, the event provided an opportunity for participants to encounter the vast richness of our collective history. Some marvelous images of historic Los Angeles can be found both at the USC Digital Archive and the LA Public Library Photo Collection.
As this LA Times article points out, indeed the garages of Los Angeles are perhaps the most valuable places to look when seeking out Historic LA. But for one day at the Archives Bazaar, they could all be seen and remembered, together.
The folks at USC Libraries put together this slideshow of the event. For more interesting tid-bits, you can follow @USCLibraries on Twitter.
