Milwaukee seems to have a jump on the holiday spirit. And NBC wants to deliver additional holiday joy to all with some of your favorite music acts this December.
The Roots, Alicia Keys, and many others are set to take part in this year's Rockefeller Center Christmas special. The special will air on the NBC network next month. Other celebs scheduled to make an appearance include: Aretha Franklin, Shakira, Barry Manilow, etc. The performers will do their thing during the annual tree lighting ceremony. This year marks the 77th anniversary of the practice, which was started back in 1933 during The Great Depression. Additionally, the event will serve as a promotion for Arbor Day and the Arbor Day Foundation. Viewers will be asked to text NBC to have a tree planted in their name during the airing of the special. The Arbor Day Foundation's goal is to raise awareness for the environment and get up to about 500,000 new trees planted. The special, Christmas In Rockefeller Center, will air December 2, 2009 on NBC from 8:00 to 9:00pm EST.
