In the first of a series of profiles of featured artists from the Puget Sound Mixtape released on June 11, 2010; Examiner.com is privileged to share the talent of Gerald "$krilla" Beamon.

His song, "Seduction", is track number 7 on the Puget Sound Mixtape, and tells the simple message of a girl needing the love and affection she isn't getting from her man, and another man just waiting to give her what she needs.

$krilla is not new to the hip hop scene.  He has been performing for quite awhile across the Puget Sound, and he has learned that persistence is the key to perfecting his craft.  He shares "My most challenging show was the 1st all ages show I did at the old "Brick City" here in Tacoma.  It was me, my cousin Shadow, and my homie, Bounce.  We got booed, and any artist who loves what they do will agree that it is one of the worst feelings to experience".  While first impressions can be damaging, $krilla continued to perform in Tacoma, Seattle, Olympia, Bremerton, Ocean Shores, and Portland.  His lyrics as both an emcee and a storyteller reflect the individuals who have inspired him:  Slick Rick, TI, Furious 5, Snoop Dogg, Tupac, Run DMC, and others.  He also attributes his talent to his mom.  Of LL Cool J, he explains, "I have been working on my craft since the first time I turned on the radio.  I used to have this little red tape player that had a microphone on it, and I would play LL Cool J's 'I Need Love' and sing along to it in the microphone."  That craft began and continues to develop in Tacoma, his first song being "Work It from the Middle".

$krilla is a somewhat new artist name for Gerald who originally went by the name Money.  In all his gigs, big or small, he always found a way to earn money.  It wasn't too much of a jump, then, to create his current name $krilla, as he was determined to create a legitimate persona for all his fans and venues.  He has since brought his skill and talent into production with Platinum Dream Records, engineering with DKG Studios, promotion with Unconfined Promotions, and graphic design with Eagle Art Designs.  He is an entrepeneur as well as musician taking leadership of all these organizations.

In addition to $krilla's contribution to the Puget Sound mixtape, he intends to release his first official album, "Likwid Sunshine", later this year.  He will also be joining artists The Nuggz, Krucial Bars, Serious Mak, Shoalin, and others this summer during "The Calm B4 the Storm" tour.  The artists are expected to travel throughout Washington state and feature all forms of hip hop music.  Tour dates and locations can be found at $krilla's myspace.
