“To all my real fans, I really, really really really love you. I love you with all of me for real. I love you all so much, thank you from the bottom of my heart. And do not forget about me, because I will never forget about you. And i cannot wait for you to see me again. I’m out.” – Lil Wayne
These were Lil' Wayne's words at his last hoo-rah with his Young Money Crew; preparing for his sentencing on February 9, 2010. Well...word has come from Lil' Wayne's attorney that his sentencing has been postponed to March 2, 2010 because of dental surgery that Wayne needs prior to going in.
I read the blogs that are making fun and jokes about Lil' Wayne's pending stint in Riker's Island. I'm not really into making light of anyone; black or white; becoming a part of the Prison Industrial Complex.Even though Lil' Wayne has been less than perfect and unapologetically leads the lifestyle of a rock star; no one should celebrate a prison sentence.
Based on Lil' Wayne hip hop track record over the past 2-3 years, the game will surely miss his physical presence. He's produced the #1 selling hip hop album in the past 4 years and a barrage of #1 singles that keep the radio and mixtapes buzzing. If I know Wayne (I don't), from a music perspective, I'm sure we won't miss him. He records constantly. He'll probably put out more music in prison than most MCs put out with a free 3 years.
Here's a brief video from MTV.com detailing his recent dealings with the law, and the response from his closest friends and family.

I swear I come across a new Lil Wayne track twice a day. I'm not what you consider a huge rap fan, but even I appreciate what Lil Wayne brings to the music industry (not just rap). I hope he uses his stint in prison to grow. God bless!
