Hillsborough County Elections: Are you registered to vote?
Your first step to voting in Hillsborough County is to determine whether or not you are eligible. You can check your status at the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections website by entering your name, birthday, and current zip code. To vote in an election, you must have registered at least 29 days prior to that election. Absentee Ballots are available but you must request one in the designated length of time. If you have checked your information at the Supervisor of Elections site and have found that you are not registered, you’ll need to register; first you must ensure that you qualify.
To register to vote in Hillsborough County you must live in Hillsborough County, Florida and be a United States Citizen. You must have attained the age of 18, however you may pre register to vote at 16, but you will not be allowed to cast your first vote until you are 18 years old. Voters must be mentally proficient, or have not been adjudicated mentally incapacitated in respect to voting in Florida or other states.
Those convicted of felonies may not vote unless they have their civil rights restored. Citizens registering to vote will be required to provide their Florida Driver’s License number or a Florida identification card and social security number as well. If you do not have those items, check the box indicated on the voter’s registration application as none.
