Hillsborough County Elections 2010: Kendrick Meek for U.S. Senate (video)
Kendrick Brett Meek was born on September 6, 1966 and serves as a U.S. House of Representative for Florida’s 17th Congressional District. He is running on the Democratic platform and is married to Leslie Dixon. The couple has two children: Lauren and Kendrick Jr. Kendrick Meek ahs served in the Florida State House of Representatives from 1995 until 1998. From 199-2002, Kendrick Meeks served in the Florida State Senate. He served as U.S. House Representative from 2003 until present.
When Kendrick Meek announced he was running for the Senate it appeared as if he would have been miles behind Republican candidates Charlie Crist and Marco Rubio. Now, many wonder if Charlie Crist’s willingness to change parties won’t propel Kendrick Meek to the forefront.
Kendrick Meek spoke about the attention that Charlie Crist and Marco Rubio have garnered during the race. He said, “There’s a lot of ideology, a lot of talk, and a lot of party leadership talking to one another. There are a lot of things going on in the Florida Republican party that has very little to do with the everyday Republican, Democrat, or Independent.” “I feel that it gives me an opportunity to talk about the issues that are facing Florida.”
