Every off-season, wrestlers and parents labor with questions about what wrestling camp to go to, what club to train at, what they have to do to achieve their goals and how to get the most out of their money.

Matt Krumrie, a longtime wrestling writer, has a way to help answer these questions; "The Ultimate Guide to Wrestling Camps."

"The goal of the book is to educate and inform youth wrestlers, high school wrestlers and their parents when choosing a wrestling camp. The book provides resources and stories and information that can help each wrestler find out what camp is the best for their experience level, skill set and future goals. It also helps parents come up with ideas on how to get the best value for their budget," Krumrie said.

"Camps are expensive, and my goal is that by reading this book they can make better decisions for their budget and their wrestler."

Krumrie has been involved in the sport long enough to be a valuable asset in this process. He served as the editor for TheWrestlingMall.com and wrote for Wrestling Insider News magazine, InterMatwrestle.com and TheGuillotine.com. He also covers the NCAA Division I national tournament.

The book is not a guide to the best camps out there. Rather, it seeks to provide parents and wrestlers with the knowledge to make the best decision for themselves, using information, tips, comments and stories from people who know wrestling.

Krumrie interviewed over 40 college coaches, high school coaches, NCAA and Olympic champions, club directors, female wrestlers and others to provide a comprehensive resource for choosing a wrestling camp.

Among these sources are legends Ken Chertow, Dan Gable and Bruce Baumgartner; collegiate coaches J Robinson (Minnesota) and Rob Koll (Cornell); high school powerhouse coaches Jeff Aveni (Clearfield HS, PA) and Roy Hall (Davison HS, MI) and others, such as NCAA champs Ben Askren (Missouri) and Matt Gentry (Stanford).

"The Ultimate Guide to Wrestling Camps" covers everything wrestlers and parents need to make informed decisions. The book identifies the most important items to consider when selecting a camp and explains wrestling camp terminology.

It uses information gathered from accomplished wrestlers, collegiate coaches and camp directors to help wrestlers choose the best camp for their needs and goals. It also provides information on club wrestling programs, nutrition tips, a camp checklist, combining wrestling and MMA, special considerations for female wrestlers and more.

"In writing the book, I wanted to benefit wrestlers of all skill levels who might be interested in wrestling camp," Krumrie said in an interview about the book on InterMat. The book is an all-inclusive, unbiased and comprehensive resource to help wrestlers and parents maximize the benefits of off-season wrestling.

More information about "The Ultimate Guide to Wrestling Camps," including a complete list of sources, chapter breakdown and ordering information, can be found at the book's website. A feature story about the creation of the book can be found in an article on InterMat by Mark Palmer.
