Former Manual and Jeffersontown standout Aaron Cosby is having a big year up north. The 6-foot-2 shooting guard is playing for Mt. Hermon in Northfield, Massachusetts. How is his season going so far? I caught up with Cosby.
"The season is going really well right now," Cosby said. "We are 5-2. I'm playing against some really good competition. I think we are one of the best teams in our class and I think we should do well."
Cosby has seen his recruitment heat up over the last few months. Several new schools have gotten involved.
"Stanford, Clemson, Notre Dame, Northwestern, Georgetown, Michigan, Providence, Rutgers and a few other schools are showing interest," Cosby said. "Providence and Northwestern have offered. Stanford is waiting on my test scores."
Despite being a little home sick, Cosby knows his decision to transfer to prep school will help him in the long run.
"I'm enjoying the experience," Cosby said. "I do miss home a little bit but I know it's going to be better for me in the end and it's going to get me ready for college. I decided to reclassify to give me another year to develop. Right now I'm playing point guard and that's the position I want to play at the next level and by reclassifying it's giving me an extra year to develop my skills. Right now I'm averaging around 12 points, eight rebounds and eight assists."
MT. Hermon produced five Division I college basketball players last season, including current University of Louisville freshman Mike Marra.
