Tonight's episode of "Heroes" was the very last for 2009 and of course, it left us all wondering how things will unfold when we hit 2010. Unfortunately, I won't be able to give you the full rundown tonight (let's just say I'm still recovering from all the Thansgiving food) but here's a couple highlights in case you missed it.
Peter loses his brother-again
Unable to accept the fact that Nathan is dead, Peter vows to find Sylar and force him back into "Nathan." He doesn't have to do much searching because Sylar shows up at the hospital. The boys engage in a fair fist fight (Peter is able to block Sylar's powers once he aborbs the Haitian's) and Sylar ends up losing for once. But "Nathan" forces Peter to face facts: Sylar is back and "Nathan" won't exist much longer. Peter and "Nathan" exchange hugs and "I love yous" before "Nathan" hurls himself off the hospital roof. He falls on top of a car and it is Sylar who arises, smiling at his adversary and waving goodbye.
Noah and Lauren get closer
Noah and Lauren are supposed to go out and get reconnected, but their plans fall to pieces when Noah realizes Claire has stolen Samuel's compass. Noah tries reaching Claire but fails. Lauren volunteers to help Noah and the two become the "bag 'em, tag 'em" duo they once were. The search for Claire is put on hold when Noah tells Lauren they used to have a thing going on before she had the Haitian wipe her memory. But they don't dwell on it for long, since one of Samuel's new "righthand man" (a multiplier) pays them a visit to swipe Noah's files. The duo go on the defensive, but they're less than successful and the files end up in the new guy's hands.
Claire connects with the carnie clan
After 21 hours of driving, Claire and Gretchen arrive at their destination: the Sullivan Bros. Carnival. Sam welcomes the girls and asks them to take a look around while they enjoy a box of popcorn. Gretchen's less than impressed, but Claire gets more and more intrigued by the idea of being able to live out in the open with a group of people who are just like her. Sam definitely does a good job of sugar coating his true intentions and by the end of the night, Claire has easily fed into his lies. Claire sends Gretchen back to Arlington University, but decides to stay behind for a couple more days to get a better glimpse of carnie life. While Sam is thrilled that Claire is being sucked into his plans, Lydia (who told Sam she knows what he's up to) doesn't think she'll be much help to him. But surprise, surprise: Claire isn't really who Sam is after.
Well, that's it in a nutshell. What did you think of "The Fifth Stage?" Are you glad Sylar is finally whole again or will you miss Adrian Pasdar more? And what are your theories about Sam's big plan?
Plus--feel free to give me some feedback on the short, sweet, and to-the-point recaps. Would you like to see more of these as opposed to in-depth coverage of the episode?
You never know. Your wishes may be my command!
