Tylenol Extra Strength added to recall (mcneilproductrecall)
Once again, Johnson & Johnson is recalling more of its over-the-counter medicines. This time they are adding Benadryl Allergy Ultratablets and Extra Strength Tylenol to their growing list of product recalls. A number of complaints have been reported that the medicines have a moldy smell that causes nausea and sickness.
Pharmacies nationwide and in Atlanta have been pulling J&J products off the shelves after their McNeill Consumer Healthcare unit has issued three major recalls of its medicines in eight months, leading to congressional investigations and citations by the FDA.
This recall is expanded from a January recall, where multiple products had a moldy smell and caused nausea. The odor associated with the products came from a chemical used to treat wooden pallets that transport and store medication packaging materials.
In May more than 40 over-the-counter infant's and children's liquid medications were recalled. McNeil Consumer Healthcare issued the recall of Children's versions of Tylenol, Tylenol Plus, Motrin, Zyrtec and Benadryl.
The company says the products did not meet required quality standards. Some of the medicines may have a higher concentration of active ingredient than is specified on the bottle. Others may contain particles, while still others may contain inactive ingredients that do not meet internal testing requirements.
If you purchased any of the recalled products at stores in Atlanta or anywhere else in the US, don't return them. Contact http://www.mcneilproductrecall.com/ for a full refund.
