S.F. has (perhaps, arguably) the best chefs, food and wine in the whole country, so while other cities are happy holding a one day, or at best a weekend food and wine event, San Francisco, the hub of culinary innovation, needs a full FOUR days (and nights) for the first annual: SF Chefs. Food. Wine.
Just think, four days devoted to tastings, dinners, demonstrations, and classes celebrating the local talent, unique flavor, diversity and bounty of Northern California. The main tasting tent will be in Union Square, where notable chefs, local farmers, ranchers, artisan producers, and wine makers will offer an exploration of taste featuring local products, while classes and other events will be held at The Westin St. Francis Hotel.
SF Chefs. Food. Wine. festivities start with the Chronicle Rising Star Chef reception on Thursday night; a collaborative chef dinner featuring Arnold Wong, Charles Phan, and Martin Yan; and a special screening of the new film Julie & Julia. Friday day includes seminars, samples of food from local chefs, wines featuring the Napa Valley, local microbrews and spirits, and cooking demonstrations in the Grand Tasting Tent. Evening brings the American Culinary Pioneers Awards dinner with Patrick O’Connell and a party hosted by Elizabeth Falkner. Saturday day presents more food and wine seminars and a new team of local chefs serving tastes in the Grand Tasting Tent with wines from Sonoma County. The Sommelier Awards Luncheon honors Master Sommelier Larry Stone, and the Saturday night SF Chefs Rock Union Square dinner concert and chocolate-inspired after-party end the day. Sunday day brings the weekend to a close with unique seminars, new chefs in the Grand Tasting Tent, and wines from Napa, Sonoma, and other premier Northern California appellations.
